BMW Motorrad (motorcycle) key shell
This is a typical BMW motorcycle key shell
Shape: Compact black plastic body with a distinctive curved, somewhat triangular or “winged” profile and a silver/chrome central trim piece.
Key blade: A straight metal key blade that inserts into the top of the shell. It is used both for the ignition and as a mechanical key.
Purpose
These shells house the electronics (transponder chip and any remote functions) for BMW motorcycles. They are commonly used as replacement housings when the original plastic becomes worn, cracked, or broken. You transfer the original electronics and have the blank blade cut to match the bike’s locks/ignition.
