The Honda straight blade insert (also called the emergency key blade, key insert, or mechanical blade) is the metal key blank that fits into a Honda key shell / remote head / smart key fob.
What it is
A flat, straight (non-folding) metal blade, usually brass or high-security steel, cut to match the vehicle’s door and ignition lock.
Provides the mechanical means to unlock the doors (and, on older traditional ignition systems, turn the ignition to start the car.
Replacement shells are often sold with or without the blade; the blade can be transferred from the original key or ordered uncut and then cut to match the vehicle
