Renault insert-to-start car key shells are the plastic remote housings (key fobs) used on many Renault models that still rely on inserting a metal key blade into the ignition to start the engine
Shape: Compact, rounded rectangular or slightly oval black ABS plastic body.
2-button versions: Open padlock (unlock) and closed padlock (lock).
3-button versions: Unlock, lock, and a car-with-open-trunk icon (boot/trunk release).
Metal blade is used for:
Manually unlocking the driver’s door if the remote battery is dead.
Inserting into the ignition barrel/slot to start the car on insert-to-start models.
Construction: Two-piece snap-together shell. The remote electronics (circuit board, battery, and immobiliser/transponder chip) sit inside.
They are widely sold as replacement housings for worn, cracked, or broken original keys.
