Subaru insert-to-start car key shell
Buttons: Common configurations are 2–4 buttons (Lock, Unlock, Trunk/Hatch, and sometimes Panic/Alarm). Button pads are often separate rubber membranes that transfer with the electronics.
Internals (not usually included with aftermarket shells): Space for the original circuit board/electronics module, battery (often CR2032 or similar), and transponder/immobilizer chip. These must be transferred from the original key

The shell protects the electronics and provides the physical key for starting. Aftermarket versions are sold as “shell only” replacements for cracked, worn, or broken original housings.
