Plia folding chair, an iconic piece of vintage design created by Giancarlo Piretti for the Italian company Anonima Castelli.
Design and History: The Plia chair was designed in 1967 and is celebrated for its innovative three-disc pivot, which revolutionized the concept of folding seating. It was presented at the 1967 Fiera del Mobile in Milan as "the symbol of a new era focused on plastic". The chair's design combines a steel frame with a clear, foldable seat and backrest made from materials like acrylic or lucite.
Recognition: The Plia chair has received multiple awards, including the BIO 5 award in 1971 and the Gute Form prize in 1973. It was also featured in the MoMA's 1970s Radical Furniture exhibition, solidifying its legacy
