Responsibilities
Treating and managing patients while conducting health education.Referring complicated cases to hospitals or higher-level facilities.Participating in primary health care activities and community outreach.Ensuring professional codes of conduct and ethics are followed.
Requirements & Skills
Taking patient histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering/interpreting laboratory tests, and diagnosing illnesses.
Prescribing medication, performing minor surgical procedures, and treating injuries according to treatment guidelines.
Receiving and attending to patients requiring immediate emergency services.
Identifying cases requiring specialized care or hospitalization and making appropriate referrals.
Conducting health education, promoting preventive health measures, and counseling patients.
Maintaining up-to-date patient records, ensuring proper utilization of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and preparing reports.
In some settings, acting as a facility in-charge, managing daily operations, overseeing staff, and managing supplies.
Participating in continuous professional development (CPD) and mentoring junior staff.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
A diploma in clinical medicine from a recognized institution.Valid registration and licensing from the relevant professional body (e.G., clinical officers' council).
Minimum Experience
2 years
Supervising the clinical services at the health facility, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients and work in collaboration with doctors and specialists but can independently manage clinics, especially in district or rural settings.
