Responsibilities
Oversees nursing staff and student activities, conducts support supervision, and ensures adherence to protocols like infection control and aseptic techniques.
Assesses patient needs, evaluates the quality of care provided by staff, and ensures comprehensive care, including specialized nursing for emergencies.
Prepares duty rosters, manages annual leave, conducts staff appraisals, identifies training needs, and contributes to hiring processes.
Maintains and allocates hospital resources, such as equipment and medication, and assists in planning and budgeting for the ward.
Conducts or facilitates Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions for staff to ensure evidence-based practices are implemented.
Compiles monthly reports, investigates incidents or complaints, and acts as a liaison between nursing staff and the hospital administration.
Requirements & Skills
hold a bachelor of Science in Nursing or Diploma in Comprehensive Nursing/Midwifery from a recognized institution, be registered with the relevant Nursing and Midwifery Council, and possess a valid practicing license. At least 1–3 years of clinical experience, strong patient-centered communication, and competence in managing patient care, diagnostics, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Registered with the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council. · Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in maternal health or maternity services.
