Rouen ducks are a large, French breed similar in coloring to Mallards but significantly bigger and heavier, bred for meat and ornamental purposes. Males, or drakes, have iridescent green heads, claret-colored bibs, and steel-grey bodies, while females, or hens, are a rich mahogany brown with distinctive dark penciling on their feathers. These calm, docile, and non-flying ducks make good backyard birds and pets, though they are not prolific layers
