Calliandra calothyrsus is a fast-growing, nitrogen-fixing shrub used as high-protein (up to 24% crude protein) fodder for dairy cows, goats, and rabbits, often replacing expensive dairy meal. It is ideal for hedge-rows, soil erosion control, and, due to its high tannin content, should make up 30-50% of an animal's diet.
