Corymbia citriodora, commonly known as lemon-scented gum and other common names, is a species of tall tree that is endemic to north-eastern Australia. It has smooth white to pink bark, narrow lance-shaped to curved adult leaves, flower buds in groups of three, white flowers and urn-shaped or barrel-shaped fruit. Lemon eucalyptus (Corymbia citriodora) is primarily used as a natural, effective insect repellent, particularly against mosquitoes and ticks, with its active component PMD (para-menthane-3,8-diol) recommended by the CDC. It is also used in aromatherapy for its calming scent, in topicals to soothe joint pain and skin inflammation, and as an ingredient in soaps, perfumes, and cleaning products for its fresh, citrus-woody aroma.
