1.Water Treatment: It acts as a flocculant that causes microscopic impurities to clump into larger particles (flocs), making them easier to filter out of drinking water and wastewater.
2. Gardening: Used to lower the pH of alkaline soil. It is famously used to turn hydrangea flowers blue by increasing soil acidity, which allows the plant to absorb aluminium.
3. Textile Industry: Functions as a mordant to help dyes adhere to fabric fibers, making the colors water-insoluble and long-lasting.
3. Medical & Cosmetic: Found in styptic pencils to stop bleeding from minor cuts (due to its astringent properties) and used in some deodorants and vaccines.
4. Paper Manufacturing: Traditionally used to "size" paper, adjusting its absorbency and helping it better absorb ink.
