When our house was built, a Cat 5e cable was run from the pantry (where the modem, router, and switch are now located) to each bedroom, but the cables were not terminated or labelled to denote where they run. While most all electronics connect via Wi-fi, I wanted to be able to use the cables if needed, so I added jacks and wall plates, then used this tool to identify which cable went to each room. I also made some custom-length cables with RJ-45 plugs on the ends. The tool was easy to use, inexpensive, and made the task a snap. It tests each strand in the cable for proper connection. I didn't want to spend a lot since I will probably never need to use it again, and I didn't need lots of extra features, so this was perfect. Highly recommended.
