Greet guests, present menus, explain specials, and make recommendations. Proactively upsell drinks, appetizers, and premium products to boost revenue. Take, enter, and communicate accurate drink and food orders to the bartender or kitchen staff using POS systems. Deliver beverages and food, ensuring proper presentation and accuracy. Maintain a tidy station by cleaning tables, removing debris, and polishing cutlery. Prepare the bar area for the next shift by restocking condiments and glassware. Check customer IDs to verify legal drinking age and monitor for over-consumption, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations. Process cash and credit card payments efficiently.

Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and food menus to make expert recommendations. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with guests and cooperate with colleagues and bartenders. Ability to manage multiple tables simultaneously and prioritize tasks under pressure. Ability to stand for long periods and lift trays.

Must meet minimum legal age requirements to serve alcohol and be knowledgeable about local liquor laws. Prior experience in food service or hospitality is often required, particularly for upscale environments, with 1–2 years sometimes expected for senior roles. Ability to stand for long periods, walk constantly, and lift heavy trays of drinks or food. Familiarity with cocktail, beer, and wine menus, including preparation methods and garnish standards.
